I don't think THL is "malicious" at all. I do think that there were very racist connotations to the opening query, which mentioned that he/she did not feel comfortable in a non majority caucasian community, obviously inferring an inherent negative predisposition, genetic or otherwise, to the black or brown races.

In this case, the opening post should have beed deleted by the moderator for racist overtones/connotations, even though the poster later "backtracked", in a sense, and stated he/she was of "mixed race".

Another question is if an avatar/handle, used by a licensed real estate agent, still mandates that a realtor abide by the realtor board of ethics. At what point WOULD an agent be responsible for breaching ethical mandates, per federal/NAR codes? That is very much a grey area, and huge sites like CD, with a national relocation presence, should be looked into per proper conduct behind handles/avatars.......I would add that, if real estate agents list "real estate agent" next to their handle name on here, that they should be registered on a City-Data database with their legal name and state license number/broker. MY understanding is that this is not so, and that realtors can post anonymously, with the obvious implication of a board/agency not being able to find out who they are if any violations were found anyway.

If this post was called into an actual real estate office, and the preference of avoiding non-minority areas was made, any responsible broker would have the agent handle the same carefully, in that she could lose her license/be fined heavily for a ethics violation.

Per Illinois continuing education mandates, we had to attend a day long session every two years just dealing with ethics issues alone, so you can understand how important it would be to field a query such as this if it actually came down the pike in face-to-face/phone conversation.

I would be curious as to what other folks out there thought about realtors who have the "real estate agent" banner being required to either have their actual name/license registered in a CD database, and/or required to post their legal name as opposed to a handle......
