More fine dining in it's downtown? San Antonio is a top tier convention center city, has higher end dining. Austin's sixth street, Soco, are not really known as fine dining locales. San Antonio has 100's of options downtown, Le Reve french cuisine on the River was ranked 6th best(Gourmet Mag) in the nation, only city to rank in Texas. San Antonio has a mixture of everything.

There is a huge arts scene in San Antonio as well maybe people have not checked it out yet.

I don't think SA is behind either. They have way better shopping there and nicer malls IMO. Has anyone checked out La Cantera lately? La Cantera has way more stores than the Domain does. I know a new development of the Domain just opened, but La Cantera still has more to offer for everyone ( with there new sectioning opening too ). Recent developments such as new huge theaters ( Palladium, big Drafthouse, more shopping developments etc. ) proves that SA is not behind. Maybe you checked out the wrong side of town. It's like comparing the East side of Austin to the West Side ( both sides are improving ) if you think SA is behind.

I suggest that people actually explore both cities for that matter.

I don't know about La Cantera having more than the Domain the Domain isn't even finished yet it's got the same anchors as La Cantera Macy's, Nieman Marcus and they eventualy are going to open Austin's second Nordstroms in the Domain and Saks is going to open a bigger store in the Domain and so is Whole Foods eventually the Domain will have nearly eight million square feet of mixed use (750,000sf of retail)

The Domain - The Domain | Austin Continued | About The Domain

And we also have the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave

To start, I don't really like getting into the "city vs. city" discussions, because I think 10 times out of 10, both cities (no matter which ones are being talked about) offer a lot to their residents, it just depends on what each person is looking for.

That being said, I have to ask this: is Z'Tejas really considering upscale in Austin? I used to go to Z'Tejas for lunch when I lived in Phoenix, as it was conveniently located across the street from my job in the mall!
