E.A.S.T. 2010 tour.

S.A. no comparison? 17 cultural centers and 100's of galleries. Three designated arts districts.

Impressive amount of Art in East Austin, 28 studios and 150 artist most are their homes and is a tour from Nov 13-21 not actually an art district. With Austin having a sizeable art scene I wonder why they don't organize and designate east Austin an Arts district? There is a section of downtown Austin that has several galleries that I have seen plus at UT.

A little bit of San Antonio which is not a Oklahoma.

Southtown over 100 Galleries and studios, 7 Musuems, 18 art shops, 25 restraunts, 16 B&B's and hotels off South Alamo st in the heart of Southtown.

Market Square 15 Art galleries but kindy touristy.

SoFlo Arts Districts up and coming district 6 galleries.

Both cities have interesting and strong art scenes.

The Men's Fitness and similar lists are crap, you are right.

The only data I might trust on that is data from the CDC. They have an obese cities list, and it looks different from the Men's Fitness and other pop culture magazine lists. They use BMI from population samples. I think San Antonio is still high on that one, but Houston is not. By the way, I saw a Forbes list that had Austin as a fat city, higher than Houston and others. Another example of how there isn't much consistency with these lists.

"load of subdivisions in SanAntonio in which the city has not met with the appropriate infrastructure. 1604 and 281 is a great example of this."

Do people not realize SA or any TX city have nothing to do with the Interstate systems. TXDOT controls this intersection not the city of SA, its TXDOT jurisdiction not the city's.

Why didn't Austin being the capitol where TXdot is based keep up with it's growth? But yea the cities are at their mercy.

new interchange under construction finally at 281/1604

Sorry ,here we go again, Austinites need to discover SA a liitle deeper before it makes these inaccurate claims. Austinites unfortunately need to know that their city is not on the par with many bigger cities yet. I guess I will be reading a thread next Austin versus Paris culture areas.

I just finally read this post and agree with everything you said about SA. I have always thought about living there because it seems so lush and green and the downtown seems more urban which is cool but all of what you say is pretty much true. I want to like SA but at the end of the day I know that I have a better quality of life in Austin. Won't rule it out as I get older but for now Austin it is.

You better bring alot of money with you if you pick Austin. Quite a few folks get suprised by the high housing costs (highest in the US South). Plus, Austin has the worst traffic of smaller-large size cities in the country. SA has REALLY LOW housing prices, and they are aggressive in making improvements of their roadways. The public schools in Austin are pitiful, and I think SA is about the same. All said, since you are young you may fit in better in Austin.... but I'd pick SA for the lower cost of living and better transportation.
