Just wanted to put out an update that the road construction on 290 from Nutty Brown to Trautwein is in its last stage. All four lanes are now open and there are only lane closures occasionally for line painting and cleanup. The traffic is now running very smoothly throughout the entire section without the backups at Nutty Brown heading west, or Sawyer Ranch heading east.

One word or warning. Last year, when they finished up the last section between Trautwien and the Dairy Queen in DS, they left the construction speed limits in place for about 2 months after the 4 lanes were open. I guess this was to facilitate the final small clean up jobs that seemed to be going on at the side of the road from time to time. The cops turned this place into a speed trap. Each day I would drive from Sunset Canyon to the high school to pick up my daughter in the afternoon. I would see AT LEAST one car pulled over every day each way, east and west. Sometimes I would see two captures on the same side in the same day. This was in a 30 minute total drive, so just think of what they did on a daily basis. This was a combination of Sherrifs, Constables and State Troopers.

People (including me) were opening it up to about 65 on the new four lanes but the cops were just sitting by the side and nabbing your for exceeding the 55 limit.

The same situation is in place on the new section. The 55 limit is still in place. I have not seen any increased patrols yet, but they will come.

BE WARNED.

Good to know thanks! I saw about 3 motorists pulled over at the same time just east and again west of Nutty Brown yesterday on my commute home from work. I was curious if the speed limit remains 55 until the signs come down, I guess so.
