I am a professional bonded and insured dog walker and I am making the move to Texas in a few months because of my allergies. I can actually say I am allergic to Michigan. My doctor says that I would be better off down there since I have lived in Texas before and did not have allergies. I live in Michigan, but my parents live in Texas. My parents live in a small town of 3000 ppl so Austin is where I need to be to reestablish my clientele for my dog walking business.

Are their nice dog parks in Austin? Preferably one with a wash area.

Are there many dog walking companies in Austin? I know the competition can be pretty stiff in many cities. I am not thrilled about moving my entire business to another city. I guess I am starting over from the ground up.

you get a bump from me. I was also about to ask about dog parks. I live in West Houston (Katy) and have 3 parks within 10 min from me. they are 14 acres, 17 acres, 13 acres. all are off leash, ponds, wash station, trails,.....etc.

Austin have anything like this.

Yes, Auditorium Shores and it's downtown. I don't know about acreage, but the "off-leash" area is about 500ft x 2000 ft - so maybe 20 acres?

I would look around South First/Bouldin Creek to establish your biz with the proximity to Auditorium Shores. The clientele there would have the wherewithall to support a luxury service such as yours, and you would get exposure with the proximity to the coffee shops, Town Lake trail and foot traffic. I honestly haven't seen anyone walking a large pack of dogs, so I bet there would be a niche you could fill.

Good luck, and welcome to Austin.
