Does anyone have any insight as to which subdivision is better in terms of proximity to downtown Austin and schools (elementary and Middle?) I keep reading alot of posts that give glowing reviews about Circle C; however, there are so many other subdivisions that I found that are nice (maybe not equally in amenities like Circle C) like Covered Bridge, Courtyard at Gaines Ranch, VOWO, and Shady Hollow. Just don't know much about these subdivisions except the homes that I see on various home websites. Does anyone have any insight to assist me? I should mention that I'm relocating from New Jersey to Austin and my price range for a home is up to $400k. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Chi

If you want a sense of established community and don't want to be in an area subject to shifting school boundary lines, Circle C is a better choice.

Covered Bridge is not normally cross shopped against Circle C. VAWO, Legend Oaks are usually in the mix with Circle C. Shady Hollow is a different animal as well, mainly geographic.

Nothing wrong with CB, I just don't think of it as appealing to the same buyer as Circle C.

Default 2018 updated info on this old thread?

Hi,

We are looking to rent probably in SW Austin and I've been looking at three of the places mentioned here some years ago: Circle C, Shady Hollow and Covered Bridge. How have things changed for those areas since the OP asked the question? Commute will be to either Cedar Valley or Sunset Valley. Would like rent to stay under $2500 for a 3/2. I've seen options in these areas but want some feedback on what they are currently like. Thanks!

The elementary and middle schools are different from circle c/shady hollow to covered bridge. They go to the same high school. Do a quick search of the forum for updated info on traffic, shopping and commute. I think this has been asked at least once a week in the last month. FWIW, covered bridge has added a “luxury” apartment complex to the front of the development. It’s a fine complex, and even on my list to rent at when I was looking to move to the area, but I ended up somewhere else. I feel like the. Ingest drawback to covered bridge would be the Y at oak hill. Circle c/shady hollow has its fair share if traffic (and construction) but it’ll be over in our lifetime.

I must be doing something wrong in the search feature because when I type in 'Covered Bridge' I get some results, none of which are recent and most which are only relevant because they contain the word 'bridge' which is why I decided to add to this one looking for updated info. Other key words I type get me a whole slew of non-relevant posts simply because they contain a key word like 'oak' or 'creek'. Am I missing something vital or is it just a lack of knowledge of the area that prevents me from searching using the correct words? Circle C has more info available but haven't found much of anything on Shady Hollow.

Covered bridge , I think, is lumped in with the oak hill area. I only know it because I was looking at those apartments. Shady hollow is lumped in with circle c a lot of times. Try to search again, there’s at least two threads on the first pages out circle c.
