Although I should add, I understand the RJ's frustration at people that take up the entire sidewalk when they walk several abreast. That's pretty rude in itself. However, it doesn't warrant assault. I checked the FB page and one of the photos was of an HEB employee that one poster considered 'rude' because he reprimanded her for having 14 items in the 10 item express lane. Now, THAT's whining on the part of the woman. She broke the rules, she was called out on it, and then she has the gall to call the enforcing employee rude. Now, that's entitled...and rude!

That said, I don't think it warrants assault or the jogger's purported behavior.... two wrongs don't make a right.
I fully agree, Jennibc. It's a rare occasion when someone says "excuse me" to me because I generally anticipate the needs of others. It IS rude for people to take up a sidewalk and not pay attention to others. And I'm glad that you also agree that the jogger is being very rude about how she makes her point. She's not being skillful with her apparent attempt to educate others about how to share space. If anything, she's hurting her own cause by creating a backlash.

If we could all just recognize the needs of others instead of being obliviously wrapped up in our own little worlds, we'd create a much more harmonious society.

I am not really sure what you mean. I've only been here for two and half years total. Are you taking issue with my post or complimenting me? If it's the latter, well then, thank you. If it's the former why don't you specifically address the part that you find objectionable.

Is it the part about being hit as a form of assault? - read the model penal code, just about every jurisdiction considers that assault.

Is it the part about me thinking someone ignoring the rules at the HEB getting called out on it as being ok?

Really, I don't get it. If anything I am advocating personal responsibility and accountability. How is that specific to Austin?

TheRudeJogger.com is available if anyone wants to parley this topic into a money maker. Shirts, coffee mugs, jogging shoes, Jogging Etiquette forums, weight loss advice, etc.

I see a real opportunity here, but I'm too busy to take advantage myself.

Hopefully this won't encourage copy-cat, even ruder, fat-hating joggers to randomly run through Steiner Ranch. I can't imagine the sort of chaos that might cause there.

Runners could choose to wear either fat suits or blond wigs

LOL. We already have an annual 5K (Run the Ranch). It was actually just this past weekend. But it would be funny to have a bunch of people dress up as her to run it.

For the record, the sidewalks on the road in question are plenty wide for everyone. I walk / jog on there a lot and I've never experienced anyone taking up the whole sidewalk (or the rude jogger, for that matter).

But I'm suprised that no one has figured out who it is. It seems as though everyone here knows everyone else.

I appreciate humor. Kelso is a regular part of my morning read. I also walk regularly. As a former New Yorker, if someone came up and hit me from behind, like RJ, because I was walking with a friend side by side ... I guarantee I would not be posting on Facebook. Instead ... I would have RJ Face-down on the Steiner sidewalk. When did it become a crime to walk side by side with a friend on a sidewalk? If you need to pass, say excuse me, I'd be happy to move to a single file if I knew you were coming. Maybe RJ has eyes in the back of her head, but regular people like me (polite walkers)... don't. If you're coming ... let me know ... verbally. Assault me ... you'll understand that where I come from ... we don't play Facebook ... we play Face down ... so face it ... RJ ... stop pounding the pavement to get out your rage and go see a psychiatrist. PLEASE. Assault is illegal ... if you "run" across me ... you'll need a shrink ... and a lawyer.
