Anyone have any opinions on the Balcones Village neighborhood? A while back someone mentioned that the golf course was considering selling some of their land, any word on what happened with that? Anyone living in the area have any comments about it? There seems to be a lot of houses for sale in that area right now and I'm not sure exactly what to make of it. From driving around it does look to be a nice family friendly area.

We are in the option period for buying a house out there as well. The MLS code is NW and the zip is 78750.

Liked this part of town more than any other in NW Austin. It is a bit harder to get to (walk score of 9, ouch), but appears to be suburban utopia.

Another area that i liked even better is MLS 1A (Highland Hills, Cat Mountain et al). The Austin vibe appears stronger here, but the houses are older and the schools are not as good.
