I have never been to Waco's so can't comment on it. I have only been to San Diego's and San Antonio's. San Diego is the biggest and best, they have City sized tour Buses driving through it. San Antonio's is listed as one of the largest and best rated in the U.S.

Here is a list of the largest and top rated Zoos in America.

The Waco zoo is very nice. Also like Sand Deigo (obviously) and Ft. Worth. Not sure I've ever been to the one in SA.

I live in AUS, but went ahead & got a membership to the Waco Zoo, we liked it so much. Was shocked at how nice it was. Beautiful habitats, very relaxing, park-like setting - MUCH better than the SA Zoo!

SA has loads of birds to look at, not so many big animals as other zoos. Been to Cinci Zoo and that is a good zoo. The zoo in Omaha is really well done and has a huge indoor area for a rainforest. The Indy Zoo reminded me of the Ft. Worth Zoo. Never been to Waco..looks like that is going to be a day in the summer for me and the kiddlets!

I'm now anxious to check out the Waco Zoo! Is it formally called the Cameron Park Zoo? Interestingly enough, I was really not impressed with the San Diego Zoo at all when I visited. I did not see the reason for the hype.

I would say San Antonio, only because SA has more to do than Waco!

Yes, It's called Cameron Park Zoo. We really enjoyed it as well. My daughter was thrilled with the close access you get to the giraffes She also really liked the bat exhibit, feeding the fish, and the slide that goes through the water.

Never been to Waco Zoo,but S.A.Zoo many times,at least 20,starting way back as a little kid. They've recently done some expansion and "naturalizing" some of the animal areas. What makes the SA zoo unique is the cool old limestone cliffs and old walkways. If you do go to S.A.Zoo don't miss taking a ride back in time, on the restored "Old Carousel" adjacent to the entrance. Also while in Brackenridge Park, you can hop on the skyrideand it will take you up for great views of the city and over the Japanese Sunken Gardens and back again. In the late 1920's,the zoo and the sunken gardens all were built in and around the old 1890'sAlamo Rock Quarry, which makes this place historical and unique.Best days to go? any day but sunday !!! No joke, avoid Sundays, way too many people in the whole Brack Park and Zoo area.* If you have the time, also plan to visit the Witte Museum and Tree House ,also in Brackenridge Park.Have fun!
