Thumbs up Back to dine in Marble Falls

You should try Brother's Bakery, it's close to downtown and the sandwiches are awesome. Free Wifi and a traditional bakery atmosphere. The bread is exquisite.

Again Blue Bonnet is not to be missed.

For a more serious meal with an excellent view, I recommend Russo's. It is across the bridge toward Johnson City, but it is fun, the food is decent, and the service is excellent. The view was partially destroyed by the building of the La Quinta...

Everything else I have had in Marble Falls is blahhhh. The restaurants on the river (River City Grill and Chilis) are ok if you are into people-watching/drinking or want chain-style food.

The only other serious restaurant within 15 minutes or so is the restaurant in the Horseshoe Bay Marriott...

I kept hearing about the Blue Bonnet and finally stopped there when i rode through on the motorcycle. I do not understand how anyone could recommend this place. The decor was tacky and the food was bad (real bad). The pie was just OK. My waitress was very nice, though. When i left, i wondered where people had been eating to think this place was good.

I'm glad i went there at least once to experience the institution of it, but i'd rather drive down the street and eat at Sonic Burger.

I think it's called "the willing suspension of disbelief" when the reputation of a popular landmark diner cannot be impugned by the reality of its mediocre fare.

I've eaten there a dozen+ times in the past 20 years and have always enjoyed the *experience* of dropping in and gorging on chicken fried steak and a giant piece of pie, but I can't disagree with you about the actual food itself. That said, I don't think any of us return guests are expecting the best plate of food we've ever had.
