Default I achieved my goal! Now I need to find a good day care center

I said on here a couple of months ago that I wanted to move to Austin. I did it! I left on the 25th from MI and went to my moms house. Within 4 days I had a job, I just got my apartment in Round Rock. I am very surprised how easy it all was. I spent two days looking at apartments before I found the one and they have some pretty sweet apartments in that area

I am so looking forward to moving all of my stuff in two weeks. Now I just need to find a really good older kids day care center. My son is 9 and is with me for about six weeks this summer and I want to find a very enriching day care center for him while I am at work.

Not sure you will find anything under the heading of 'daycare' for a 9 y/o. Most daytime programs for kids that age will be called a 'camp' or something similar (magic camp, soccer camp, science camp, whatever) and will cost you a penny or two.

the public schools will often extend their afterschool care into summer day camps. You might want to check with the elementary school in your area to see what they have available. Those are usually more reasonable than the "enrichment camps" which can run over $400 a week for things that run something like 9-3.

I'm pretty sure the normal daycare places that offer after school care for children that age also offer full day summer camps for them. Places like Rainbow Station in Cedar Park (close to NW Round Rock) and Children's Courtyard look like they offer full day "summer camps".

Here's the RR YMCA location. (part of Williamson Co. YMCA...all locations appear to offer summer "camps"):

fwiw, i had my kid attend the Twin Lakes location summer camp a couple of years ago (for a couple of weeks) & he had a blast.

Don't know about the Chasco (downtown RR) location, but check it out.

This maybe be too far for your son to take advantage of, but it is a great opportunity.

As of last week, scholarships were still available. Scholarships are not based on income either.

Best of luck!
