Count me as a person completely uninterested in a pro sports team in Austin. I would vote against any bond money or other tax proposal to fund any stadiums or arenas.

I grew up a MLB and NFL fan, but the money in the sport is ridiculous and too much of it is borne by taxpayers. Longhorn athletics is already over the top and I see college sports slowly degenerating into "professional college sports" and UT is leading the way.

No thank you.

I can see the NBA in SA (from my house to the area it is an 75 minute drive. NFL and MLB are two hours away in Houston (and combining big sports with a luxury hotel and then big museums the next day is one of our favorite quickie vacations).

The pro sports are essentially here already. It is not like we are all living in Wyoming or South Dakota or something. It is all just a relatively short drive away.

Since Austin's logo is "KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD" will the sports team be named the WEIRDOS?

Austin will forever be the big city I'm Texas without an actual pro sports team and the residents will just pick a team from another Texas city. The Longhorns are enough and you have other pro sports teams nearby. At least two in every sport within a three hour drive from Austin, save for the NHL.

Austin Peay (in Tennessee) has the best chant I have heard actually used...

"Let's go Peay, let's go Peay!"

And it got even better during the years that the scoring-machine Fly Williams played for them. ("Peay" is pronounced "pee").

"Fly is open. Let's go Peay!"

Yes, the only league with only one team within a three hour drive of Austin is the NHL (Dallas Stars).

I don't care and I think that reflects a lot of Austin's attitude about the issue.
