Austin is simply a very active city. Every time I go down to Town Lake or to the Zilker Trails or on the Greenbelt, there's always quite a few people out and about. Most of the population seems to really like the outdoors and be into fitness and sports.

^Just curious, do you have any links, contacts or other evidence showing this is the case? I'm not saying you're wrong, just wondering where the evidence is.

^This is a problem in every part of our country. Some states more than others, but it's a problem everywhere. You can run/jog and exercise like crazy, but then go put crap into your body and you will still have problems that may or may not be related to weight.

Looks like the No. 1 "Place" had a population of 658. Not a very meaningful statistic is that. Here it is by MSA from Censu for both household and individual per capita incomes:

Why are you comparing Plano to Austin?

Younger people are generally less heavy than older people. They may not be skinny, but they have had fewer years to put on the pounds. Are you the same weight as you were when you graduated from college?
Oh my god no, but I wish I was. Luckily for Austin, I live in Pflugerville, so I didn't throw off your numbers.

It's okay to run in spandex if you are young and fit. The people from Austin that I saw running had their bellies flopping up and down over their spandex shorts. You could see their arm flab giggling like jell-o because they persisted on wearing sleeve-less shirts. And I bet they do not even consider themselves obese.

Why do you think you are that big? Food, exercise, genetics, or other health problems?

Mature adults use their 5 senses to collect and analyze data. Then they come to their own conclusions by using critical thinking, feelings, and intuition. We don't always rely on media sources that tell us what to think. We use our own 5 senses then we voice our opinions.

Excellent data. It confirms:

Austin>DFW>Houston>>SA in per capita income
