Wait. That $29 is per person, correct? So actually $58 plus the food and drinks and babysitter?

(My husband, by the way, (and I, for that matter) would be equally likely to "get lucky" whether it was a matinee or Gold Class Cinema, if we went out on the town - but, then, I'm just that kinda gal!)

Yes, it would be. And I agree about the "getting lucky" part. If I had to rely on Gold Class, we would have never had children. Or gotten lucky.

Meh. I wouldn't waste money on that. I'd rather hobknob with the "po'folk" at Alamo Drafthouse.

I don't think there are po folk at the Alamo either. My husband and I have never gotten out of there for less than $70.

4 beers - $20
Chicken Strips - $9.75
Pizza $10.49
Tickets - $21
Tip - $8.00

Just a note, the tickets at Gold Class are $22 if you are a member and membership is free. Of course for many, $22 is not much off $29. Still there are other perks such as 1/2 price Tuesdays, etc...

I love the Alamo too for a special night. I'm usually pretty content with the Cinemark although I often feel like strangling the texting teens.

We actually prefer the matinees (first showing on Saturday or Sunday), simply because it's usually us and two or three other people - we pretty much have the theater to ourselves, thus no texting (or worse, talking) people.

Really! We are pretty cheap. I generally fill up on something before we leave and then get an appetizer. My DH can't resist the cheese sticks. But we do go for the bucket of beer.

That price really doesn't seem that bad. When my friend described it to me, I actually thought it might cost more.
However, I would rather have something with not quite that level of luxury, but with more than a typical theater, for a price that falls between the two.
I would pay extra for a reclining seat and foot rest, and every-seat-has-a-good-view arrangement.
But for any luxury beyond that, I am not sure it is worth it to me.

Really? I didn't know there was still a dollar theater around. Where is it?

There was one in Wells Branch until it was replaced by a Walgreen's several years ago.

It's not really "one dollar" to go, but it is only about two or three. The popcorn is still stupid expensive, but I guess that's how they make their money. I'd bring a jacket to sit on. Seriously. I don't think they've cleaned those chairs since they installed them.
