Also not too long of a drive directly from the Port of Houston (in case they want truck cars in from around the world shipped by boat). They could dock at 6 am and be at the track by like 9am. Or if they are driving the F1 cars, get to the track at like 6:45am

What do you think this would do to the surrounding neighborhoods?

Which really points out this is a coup for all of Texas, not just Austin. I expect on seeing F1 fans from all over the state converge here. I also expect to see a lot of Texas businesses, even besides the normal tourist ones, provides support and logistics for this event.

Good points. The spot next to the Luedeke Center makes sense as well. I'm just glad we've landed it. This will benefit every one of us.

I am excited about this!. What are your thoughts?

Excited doesn't even come close to expressing my thoughts.

This is long overdue!

Building a complex for all forms of racing, has been a dream of mine personally, since I was about 14 years old.

You know F-1 is not the one and only race that is going to be held there.
Since the Auto racing in the Austin area move to that little hell hole in Kyle, I have had no desire to build another runner.

I think it might be past the point of no return since it has city and state cooperation as well as funding from the latter. The only thing I can possibly see are delays and maybe a substitute road course for a year or two. This is too big for NIMBYism to stop.

given the current economic climate, I would think that there is no such thing as a point of no return. we were also supposed to have a nice shiny new Marriott downtown (which had city blessing) but then they decided to hold off due to the economy and now it's just a parking lot with food vendors.

Looks like the state offered up $25 mil (per year) for the F1 event, with potentially more to come. That's not chump change.
