Default Bat Festival

My most recent "Parents" magazine shows that we have a Bat Festival here today (June 6), but I can't find any info - anyone know anything about it or did they maybe print the wrong date?

Not to be a downer, but the Bat Fest always sucks.

Jenni - yes! Thanks - I googed it several times and couldn't find anything. Austin Traveler - you must mean it sucks for adults (I will probably agree), but 3 Year Olds LOVE the Biscuit Brothers and anything to get them out of the house is great in my book. As long as there's not too much whining....

Since the one tonight is the first annual Night of the Bat, it would be hard to know if it "always sucks". This would appear to be a different event from Bat Fest.

That sounds like fun. Yeah, it looks different than the regular bat fest. I recently read a link from a friend of mine in Houston that said that Houston has a bat colony under the Pease Bridge and now they are doing similar to Austin and having a boat tour to view the colony. I wonder if they will come up with a festival as well.

Adam West is going to be there! How can that suck? Yes, the same guy you used to hear in a PSAs in NYC taxi cabs. Oh, and yes, he was TV's original batman

I think you are thinking of Roadway productions event in August. I noted when I followed Texas High Def's link that it was free this past year. We were going to go last year, ponied up our $7 a piece but as we went to enter, they told us we had to empty our water bottles and it was 103 degrees. We demanded our money back and left. I am glad to see they dropped the entrance fee, since they get to close an Austin street for the event.

The problem with BatFest in the past was Roadway Productions. Basically like Jennibc said. First off, they charged a ridiculously high price for what was mostly just vendors anyway -- something like $15. Second, they refused to let people bring in water, and they provided no free water. It's very hot this time of year, so that restriction (having to pay $2 a bottle for water) was ridiculous.

However, as pointed out this doesn't seem to be Batfest or have roadway productions invloved. So maybe it will be good! Gonna be hot and humid, though.
