What do you guys think of Tony Abbott's comment about the dead soldier and the subsequent drilling by Channel 7's Mark Riley?

I'm no huge fan of Tony, but I think he was a bit hard done by here. Just think it was a bit of a cheap political stunt by Channel 7 and unnecessary.

I haven't followed it closely. My understanding: he made some comments "**** happens" whilst speaking to soldiers, where one was killed (12 months ago?) Channel 7 twist it to make it sound like he was referring to the soldier that died?

Channel 7: scummy tv. I was just walking past a tv downstairs and some 7 show was on, I saw "breaking news" so I slowed down to see what it was. Headline "Lindsay Lohan pleads not guilty". WTF? Who gives a ****?!

its not like it was warnie buying a new mattress, after Liz Hurley started staying at his place

The comment wasn't directed at the dead soldier but the circumstances that caused his death. Riley's beat-up was conveniently edited to remove the agreement by a soldier standing next to Abbott.

Pretty disgusting actually, Channel 7 and this Riley turd. Yet another example of the unprofessional and biased media here. Why don't they dig at Gillard's failed policies, shameful waste of taxpayer money, lies and backflips? And how about the media follow Rudd around the globe as he writes massive cheques to every tinpot despot in his desperate attempt to buy us a seat on the UN Security Council? Oh yeah, I forgot, the media is pro-Labor. Rudd's $250m gift to the media sure bought Labor a bunch of toadies.

Is this Robyn Riley?

If so, case closed. Just another second grade journalist in Australia. Hardly something to be proud of.

I think this is what irritates me the most - it definitely reeks of bias against the Liberal party. Sadly a lot of easily swayed people will make a simplistic character assessment based on this and change their preference/vote.

We tend to watch 7 in the mornings at breakfast time, but lately been thinking about switching to ABC which I suspect is more objective...

Which is probably why they do it. Doesn't say much for these Aussies they're targetting with this slime, that it actually works on them. Or that politics seems to be about personality and sensationalism, instead of policies. I'm far more interested in what that useless Gillard's doing with our tax dollars, not watching her clutch our flag and pretend to cry.
