"A large quake has struck Christchurch, with reports of buildings and houses down.

Witnesses said there were buildings down all around Cathedral Square in the city, with the church destroyed. Witnesses said there would be "deaths" this time.

Christchurch resident Sean Scanlon said it was by far the biggest shake since the original September 4 quake. The power was out and phone lines jammed.

Christchurch Hospital was being evacuated, a spokewoman for the hospital said."

We have em all the time, as most of the country is on or near a fault line.
Reason why you don't hear much is the big ones are rare.
C-Church has now had two/three big ones within a year.

Not that long ago I watched a program that talked about the fault line that NZ is on and showed details of the effects of it. I had no idea but wondered how you guys live with it.
I hope everyone is OK.

Chit this looks nasty, could be loss of life, unlike the first quake (Which struck early in the morning). This was at a peak time lunch time.

I feel sick watching this.
