FWIW, I understand waneroo has a lot of experience in the motor vehicle industry, so I wouldn't dismiss what he is saying out of hand.
Thanks BCC_1,

I could not tell by the way he responded with nothing much of help.

As soon as I find out I will share the details. I am in the process of contacting the territory registering authority for Sydney.

I am on this site and it seems very informative as to what fees I can expect.

No worries. The other thing to work out is how much the duty (I think 5%) and GST (10% of the total value including freight and duty) will be. The value of the cycle is derived from the Australian market price not the US market price.

Mate when you get to Oz it pays to have a thicker skin. Folks will like to tease you.. throw it right back and you'll be all right. I got teased for being a yank, for George Bush, etc. etc. Since I could throw it right back I got along well with my mates.

People on this thread were, myself included, trying to give you realistic advise about your car. I did not provide any on motorcyles as I couldn't. There is at least one person here that has moved from the US to Oz.. me.

Thanks mate but I already have thick skin and can take jokes very well. I am very playful and fun! Most people that meet me are tickled pink at how upbeat and quick witted I am. It is not easy to tell if someone is joking on a written forum.

I am a very resourceful person and I have found all that I need in order to get my bike over there. I also learned about the car regulations along the way.

Where did you live in the states? How long have you been in Oz?

If you use the expression "tickled pink" expect to reap what you sow.

I thought you just said you could take jokes very well. Clearly you have some work left to do.

Most people would take the winky as a clue that it's probably a joke.
