Bone marrow is fantastic just as it is, with no flavorings added. Humans have been eating the stuff since we first started roasting Neanderthals over a campfire, a taste for it is in our bones - for the most part anyway, though there are bound to be a few mutants that don't like it. I saw a vid the other day about Druids, and how in their desperation to beat the Romans they sacrificed and ate some of their own people, including especially the bone marrow (that's how they know that Druids practiced cannibalism were things were really going wrong.)

And then there's the feral haggis: Haggis Hunt 2011/12 - The Great Scottish Haggis Hunt

I actually think the nutritional value of the stuff is a bit overrated. I think Australians are told they should like it because it's an Aussie icon. I've never been a big fan. I had it recently after years and it tasted even worse than I remember. Just an icky, salty mess unappealing in looks and taste.

IMO, the only worst thing than Irish blood sausages is haggis and chinese animal penis soup. Id try vegetarian haggis though.. I've seen that at a British food shop.

LOL, how opportune. One of my friends just sent me 2 large jars of the stuff. I have been enjoying vegemite and chip sandwiches for the past 2 days.

Life is good

Have you tried cheesybite (yet)? I put it on matzo crackers and have it in the arvo with a cuppa. Bliss.

Haggis isn't that bad, although I've never seen it in Australia. Bone marrow isn't really my thing but a lot of people like it and it's pretty common. Osso Bucco (sp?) is all about getting that bone marrow. My local does a burger and the pattie is veal, lamb and bone marrow. It's delicious.
