ah, so what about Perth - I'm slightly biased towards them as thats where I worked for a while last year. I adore it!
I might set the cat among the pigeons now - but I travelled for 2 weeks doing touristy things, but I didn't care too much for Sydney (smiles* it was too much like London - which I hate! must visit it again one day, cos i only saw a portion of it!

The enclosure is fairly large, and very warm inside... but there are thousands of butterflys, that will land on you if you keep still enough

Black Caviar ! that horse has won the hearts of many here....

If you appreciate the horses, the Spring Carnival is a great time in Melbourne.. particularly Melbourne Cup week... there are big races on the Saturday prior, the Tuesday (cup day & a day off) Thursday is Oaks (ladies) day and another major race day on the following Saturday.

how cool is that! you get a day off cos of a horserace? is that all over Aus or just Melbourne? We'd never get anything like that here! our biggest horse races are the grand national - cheltenham gold cup - and royal ascot week (in june) I think Black Caviare's coming to newmarket in the july too - but not sure if its been confirmed yet.

Just Melbourne Metro get the day off. Although there are events for the race throughout Australia, with lunches and so on. And most people do stop work to watch the Melbourne Cup.
