With all the overseas horses, it makes it harder. The winners from the last two years, Dunaden and Americain, did well in the Caulfield Cup this year (1st and 4th respectively) though they do have big weights. I rather like no. 24 Kelinni who ran a good race in the Lexus (which was previously the Saab and The Dalgety). There seem to be a few interesting overseas horses, eg Red Cadeaux and Mount Athos, who have good form. I think I will also go with Jakkalberry and will probably back him each way as well.
Might put $5 on Green Moon, mostly because its being ridden by Brett Prebble, and one day at Flemington he won just about every race he was in (and I backed him in most ) ,...but then again should back whichever horse King of Melbourne Cup has in, Bart Cummings....

Well done on your lucky day at Flemington
As for Bart, he doesn't seem to have much in this years cup (Sanagas and Precedence) - they seem to both be over $100 to 1.
I'm not even going to watch the race. That's how little interest I have in the Melbourne Cup.
Will you be at work on the day? I live in NSW and so it is a normal working day so it is nice to have an hour or so where we can stuff our faces, drink some champagne and watch the race to relieve the monotony of the usual working day. So even those at work who have no real interest in the race do enjoy the champagne and nibblies lol.
When I lived in Melbourne, I did like having the day off but sort of missed the camaderie of having fun with the workmates while watching it.

We should have all listend to Artemis! Well done!
I just went in the office sweep, we had three of them, and i happened to draw the same horse out three times, its name "My Quest for Peace" (maybe its trying to tell me someting)- The odds of doing that are pretty low to start with.
Oh well now for tonights Lotto Draw
