And you still think "Australians ostensibly do not like Americans on what appears to be general principle" that's interesting, but you could be lying and you've never been to Australia.
Well, I don't intend to devote any serious time and effort to proving that I have, in fact, visited Australia (and I don't forget NZ, of course). My observations aren't based entirely on my personal interactions with the citizens of that country, most (if not all, perhaps) of which were admittedly quite pleasant (minus the uncomfortable "so what about George Bush?" litmus routines).
Sure, I was sincere in every contention I made (and I remain willing to defend most of them)--if you simply write me off as "paranoid" for making those observations and drawing those conclusions, without addressing or refuting a single one of them, then I happily take that as a concession.
And please feel free to identify a single comment I made that can be accurately termed "xenophobic" by definition (in other words, prove that irrationality underlies my sentiments).
Overall, Australia is like a mix of US/Canada and UK.
I agree that American influence is becoming more predominant in Australia than it was years ago.
UK, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have more in common with each other than anywhere else, especially culturally. I actually think the UK has more in common with the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand than the rest of Europe.
I think the UK. They use a lot of their lingo. American influence was seen everywhere. I lived there for 6 months and didn't like it, probably because I was so homesick for America. Everything is so plentiful here and cheap whereas everything in Australia is expensive. I actually felt deprived! Nice place to visit though. I read one comment on here that aussies don't like americans, they were unfriendly to me too.

I think a lot of the Americans who post on here are trolls, they know who they are.
