You are an Australian FIRST----- and a muslim second.
No burqas/no niqabs. If one wants to wear them go to a country where they are allowed. Australia has done fine thusfar without them. And I imagine they will continue doing so.

I agree with this. Jettison those ideas that are truly perverse. A woman wearing a bag on her head because she's thinks she's a temptress leading all men astray (something brainwashed into her as a child) isn't part of my vision, for the future of this country.
This from someone that uses youtube as a source? Pot kettle black?
Besides you're not even Christian, you said so yourself.. easy enough to find, whatever you are.

We all give up freedoms, get over it.
It may be ridiculous, but we allow people to do all kinds of crazy things for crazy reasons, so as long as she's not hurting anyone why shouldn't she be allowed to dress how she wants?
Australia and New Zealand do have dress rules. For instance try to walk around naked or in a thong. You will be stopped, and told to put some clothes on. I don't see why we can't do the same with burqa.
In my experience if you tolerate the intolerant, then that gives them space to be even less tolerant. By banning it, then I believe they will switch to Hijab and they will feel perfectly fine with it. Its all about what you are used to. We are right now used to wearing clothes and would feel exposed if we didn't have them, but if we never used clothes then it would not have been a problem.
Burqa is not part of Islam, its cultural tradition that supresses women. Some people say they will just force their wifes to be inside all day, but who is going to take care of the kids and buy groceries when he is at work. So forcing your wife to always be inside won't be possible. They will eventually get used to letting her out with a hijab.

I wish I could give you 1000 reputations. Well said!
