I don't speak any Maori at all do you speak Aboriginal?
There are between 350 and 750 aboriginal dialects in Australia so I could speak to mini in Awabakal but mini could speak Jala and have no idea what I am saying.

Yea I did Know there are multiple dialects so I get what you are saying, there actually are a few different Maori dialects not sure how different they are.
Apart from the obviously New Zealand invention the pavlova receipt written in Maori above, the truth is most Kiwis are not fluent in Maori, it was less than 5% of the total population last I knew and something like 25% of Maori. I think most of us know a few words remember from school.
So you only know the English verse of God Defend New Zealand.. Thats the Te Reo verse I entered above.
:P yea I know what it is, keep in mind God Defend NZ was written only in English and sung for most of its existence in English. I think its a nice touch introducing the Maori verse in the early 90's and of course the way it was done could be considered a little anti Monarchy :P
And no i don't know the verse, I stand silently and sing the English verse.

Understood. I would think that most New Zealanders would know more Maori than Australians would know of any aboriginal language. But a big Kia Ora to you anyway.
The Melbourne beaches are by and largely flat, no swells, you have to go down to the Mornington Peninsula for better surf beaches. Whereas in Sydney Maroubra, Tamarama, Queenscliff and Collaroy are easily accessible.
Most people who go to the beach aren't surfers or body-borders, but i suppose it might be a bit less fun without the swells...still, it's probably a bit safer, and better for swimming.

NZ is 10% of Maori. Do most Maoris speak Maori (as a second language i mean)? Even most aborigines in the cities know little of any aboriginal language.
Why do people always speak as if Melbourne has no beaches? Especially in the Sydney vs Melbourne comparison, they're like 'but Sydney has beaches'...uhm, hello, Melbourne has a long coastline, and some beaches are pretty nice...yes the water's a bit nippy, but not unswimmable.
Usually it's the Sydney douchebags
