I'm talking about the city in which a clear and wide majority of the population was born in Australia.... they can be of any background, but they have to be born in Australia.... which city has that highest percentage?
So by that measure its Newcastle by quite some margin, which I find quite surprising.
This totally excludes all the people who did not answer the census question about where they were born (Typically about 5-6% of the population), so the Actual Australian born % in each case will be higher.

Despite having a higher % of foreign born than Melbourne, most people probably wouldn't know it. Perth has the most British born of any capital city (in sheer numbers not just %). Yep, more than Sydney or Melbourne which have more than twice our population. We also have a lot of Kiwis and South Africans.
Oops, I thought the OP meant indigenous or aboriginal Aussies
no offense lol, but did u not read my original post? I clearly stated they could be of any background...they just have to have been born in Australia. I made no mention of indigenous or aboriginal ppl.
