I love Australia and lived there for 15 years before heading back to New Zealand.
During my time in OZ, I know that Australia is not a racist Country..I have come across a "few" who are racist...they are the ones who need help the most..
You may be better qualified to discuss the matter if of another race yourself. If not how exactly would you be in a position to know?
If you catch a bus, train, work, live with, are friends with, married to, are in a sports team etc etc, with people of another race you should be very qualified to comment on how much racism you see against those people, and a fair portion of Australia'a population do exactly that.
Besides, you tend to hear exactly what people are thinking when talking to people of the same race, it diminishes the need to hide behind the façade that is political correctness.
I heard far more foul mouthed language coming from the whites in London about other races than I have ever heard In Australia.
Still I am not going to say the UK is a racist country, it's not.

I actually think the reason Australia isn't racist is because they're not politically correct. They can use words like "wog" and "*****" and not actually feel hate when they say them. I'm not saying using slurs isn't rude because it is, but I think a culture of totalitarian political correctness actually encourages true racism because it makes bigotry a revolutionary act.
I think this survey is just that: a survey and there's no data given to support its validity, whether its sample size is representative of the population, what the confounding factors are, was there bias, how statistically significant it is etc. After a while you learn to tune-out the noise from surveys and not get taken in by them, they're usually a passing curiosity and nothing more.
Did anyone even read the article? There is no mention of Australia being the least racist country. It does say this:
On a related note, countries like United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Britain, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Australia and New Zealand were deemed the least racist as only up to 4.9% of their population have problems with people of a different race.
Australia: You are about as racist as the US and Britain. White people: stop you're arguing.
Here's a link to the Washington Post article that the OP's link references:
Guys, how can a country be racist? It just doesn't make any sense. It's the people in a country that can be racists. A country itself is not a living thing.
I'm not so sure about that. Some people's sense of national identity is so strong they can't separate their own identity from their country's. Whether it comes from a lack of self worth, or brainwashing since an early age I'm not sure. I've noticed it does seem to be a phenomenon in small non-European countries. Maybe it's some form of basic tribalism born out of isolation? who knows. There are definite cult-like patterns in those people. Fascinating, really fascinating.
