Better question is why was he free with the crimes he committed before the shooting?

Mr Abbott has been asking the same sort of questions. I have a feeling he's going to get the answers.

Tony Abbott got it in one when he described supposedly Muslim involvement in the siege as akin to blaming the Catholic religion for the IRA (he's Catholic himself).
A bit OT but the IRA were avowed Marxists and not in any way associated with the Catholic Church just that members were predominantly Catholic. Their prime aim as a United Ireland it was not based on any Catholic Republic or any religion.

Do we really want to start imprisoning people for writing rude letters? Penalise them, yes, hate speech needs to be punished, but lock them up and throw away the key? All those men who threaten rape on twitter and games?

Watched this over hyped garbage on the news, its sad but WAY over hyped. I would have thought 8 kids stabbed to death was far more worthy of a thread than this nut job. Who killed those 8 kids, was that also a terrorist? or a mentally ill person?. Maybe if the kid killer put up some kind of Muslim flag we could all call it "terrorism" and pin it on the Muslim community.

Aus media rant aside, the armed police utterly bungled that assault. I suggest next time call in the Aus SAS, those guys will not hesitate going in, and they wont take dozens of shots to bring him down. Seriously I could do better with a few beers a 303 and a pick-up truck

Didn't the mother kill those children? They's arrested her for it. It's a tragedy, certainly, but very mundane. Mothers kill their children all the time. This case is just noteworthy because there were so many of them, and because she killed someone else's child too.

Default Honouring the victims of the Sydney Siege

A petition has been launched to award Tori Johnson the Cross of Valour for his bravery "This one man, selflessly put himself in harms way and sacrificed himself to help the other innocent hostages escape. He deserves nothing less than our nation's respect and honour." https://www.change.org/p/tony-abbott...ruiter=8983269. There's also a fund for the mental health charity Beyond Blue in his memory.

Also a foundation has also been set up to commemorate the memory of barrister Katrina Dawson, who died shielding her pregnant friend from gunfire. Former Governor General Quentin Bryce is its founding member and it will support education for women.

Meanwhile floral tributes have continued to be left at Martin Place in Sydney, they'll eventually be used in a memorial for the victims Flowers fill Martin Place siege memorials - 9news.com.au
