....exactly.....It happened to me to be watching an American TV show in Italy at my family's home where the shots were supposedly taken in Seattle...my mother ask me: "so do you recognize the location?? You know where this place is"?? "yes I do recognize it...it's Vancouver, in Canada"
The standard of living is much higher in Canada and our incomes are better than most Americans in similar positions. You really have no idea what you're talking about. Not to mention Toronto is probably the most vibrant and diverse city in the entire world - no U.S city can hold a candle to that. No not even NYC, not even close.
In a lot of Canadian shows and movies, Canadian cities poses as American ones....I never watched a movie where Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane pose as American cities.

they actually do this some times, I know Brisbane was the film location of the movie san andreas.They actually closed off some city streets imported american cars and drove them on the right to make Brisbane look like San Francisco.
