2nd Year Visa Extensions

So do the 88 days of qualifying regional work some time within the first 6 months of your first WHV. That allows you to apply for the second year WHV. However the rule still applies that in any one year you can only work a maximum of 6 months for any single employer. So in order to do the maximum of 12 months with one employer you would have to do the last 6 months of year 1 and the first 6 months of year 2 to be within the rules. Hope that explains it better?
Tigerlily64,

I had no idea that I could do this! Thank you so much for this valuable piece of information, it means a lot.

If I can't renew my visa for a second year, because of my us citizenship. Then I'm guessing the only option I have is to hope for someone to sponsor me. Which would have to happen, while I'm out there for the one year holiday work visa.

And that is your best chance for making it happen. It would be virtually impossible for you to get sponsored without being there.

One option if nothing has eventuated by the end of your WHV year is to look at further education. I know that's probably the last thing you're interested in, but the study-to-work-to-residency path is very common. It's a combination of having a locally-recognized qualification and developing contacts and local work experience to parley into a permanent position.
