Had both feet done, more surgical work done on the left than the right. It is Day 11 postop and I have limited mobility (can't walk long distances) wearing my surgical shoes. The op is NOT painful, just nagging soreness which I am sure will improve!

Hey! I'm having bunion surgery soon on my right foot and really would like to know how your recovery went week by week? Like, how long before you could drive, wear normal shoes, get around the house to do things for yourself (cook, bathe, etc). get back to full time work (if you work)? I've had foot surgeries for another condition, but never had to wear a boot, though recovery was slow and long. I would love to hear anything more about the experience, if you'd like to share! Or some helpful tips to get through the post op and the weeks following. Thanks!

Me too! I’m having one foot done tomorrow.

Any new post ops here? If not, I’ll post mine.

Day of surgery, 6:30 pm:

Home from surgery by noon. Kept foot elevated all afternoon. Had a nerve block which hasn’t worn off yet. Am taking Percocet every 4 hours to stay ahead of the pain when it hits. Although I bought a knee scooter, I haven’t tried it yet. The shoe, which keeps the weight off the front of the foot, and a walker, gets me around the house.

It’s important to keep ahead of the pain, and take a stool softener, because if you don’t, you WILL be sorry.

So far, I haven’t had any pain.

Yeh right. Second post from OP on such subject matter. Seems pushing an agenda on here to me, for a procedure that at best requires very careful consideration before being undertaken.

Personally I would be looking towards non intrusive measures to counter problem, as folk, I know have done. Think very carefully prior to having any surgery on feet or legs as have a very close acquaintance who was far from cured by such an operation. Get the facts.
