A beautiful harbor & city skyline, fantastic climate, great beaches, attractive people...
...Is Sydney the best city in the world?
Ignoring the insane housing costs of course.

Most don't live with harbour views. Second most expensive real estate in the world. A wetter climate than London. Rather self absorbed population IMO. Not the best nightlife. At the end of the day, folk go to work, pay their bills, and do their best. Now if you have serious money, most everywhere is good.

I wouldn't say it's wetter than London. It gets more rainfall, but with less rain days and greater sunshine.

Depends what are you looking for in a city? Definition of best? I don't think Australia does cities especially well. Most have post stamp size centres, which are not to dissimilar tone.
Australia is an oddity. Although most all live in urban capitals, the more attractive features are far removed from most CBD's.
I would have difficulty in naming anyone as being superior. But obviously, if a 'sense' of vibrancy and buzz were the measurement, only Sydney or Melbourne would come anywhere near in meeting your requirements.
