All,

I happen to have a job offer from a reputed company in Auckland and they wish for me to move to NZ. I am being offered 110,000 NZD for a Senior Software Developer role. It will be two of us moving now, self and my spouse but it will be just one income for a while. If we move, we wish to continue living there permanently and raise our family there. We have also heard and read that it is a beautiful city/country to live in.

We currently own a home here in Houston and will need to sell this off to move over. Same with our cars and other assets.

Can NZ gurus guide us if we are making a good choice?
Is 110,000 NZD a comfortable salary to live in Auckland keeping in mind that initially we will be renting but eventually settle down there?
If 110,000 NZD is not ideal, what would be a comfortable salary to live there and also build up some savings?

Appreciate any and all advice.
TIA

With the average house price being $1 million in Auckland, I would say $120k isn't too shabby but then what do I know? I've not been to NZ but I definitely want to visit and perhaps move there.

Auckland house prices are very expensive as TedH71 states. I not been to Auckland but to other parts of New Zealand and New Zealand is a beautiful country and if I did not have family commitments as I do now I would consider moving to New Zealand.

Thank you TedH71 and herenow1.... we are currently gauging all scenarios before making a decision. What you both have said is true, i hear a lot of people praising this beautiful country and many actually want to move there.
