You can't just 'move to another country' and find work. Do some homework and look at visa and documentation requirements.

Agreed. I'm looking at student visa options so I can study in Sydney and it is much more complex than just "packing up and moving to Australia or New Zealand." I wish it were simple but you need the correct documentation forms and such. It will be a rather arduous task for you (and for me as well).

This is what I posted on another thread:
check out these two web sites to get 2 different angles of life in Aotearoa (NZ)
Moving to New Zealand?
I've lived in Oz and I know NZ pretty well. I would carefully make a list of why you want to leave and if the grass is really greener in Oz or NZ. To many people it may not be, and of course to some, it was a good move. Its tougher to get into Australia but it only takes 2 years to obtain Aussie citizenship (it takes 5 years to become a kiwi). Aussies and Kiwis have the right to move to each other's country and work.. no immigration necessary. Job prospects may be better in Oz.. more cities to chose from. NZ is currently under recession, Australia may be headed that way (AUD in 6 weeks went from almost par to USD to .82) and the AU economy is expected to shed 100,000 jobs this year. Inflation is high in Oz. There are tons of kiwis who have crossed the tasman in search of better opportunities in Oz. An Aussie comic once said the thing he missed most about Australia are all the "bloody" kiwis. LOL..
Here are links to online newspapers:

If I had my druthers and as much as I truly love NZ, I would choose Oz. Only since salaries are higher (by about 20%) and work opportunities more robust. Be forwarned though that Oz and NZ do not stack well for affordability for housing... you can google search this one...
For both countries you need to pass a points test which does change. Google NZ and Australia immigration. For both you need work experience in your field.
Good luck.

Really have to do alot of research yourself on this question I think, a plus side about moving to one of these countries is that you can take a holiday in both of them given the short distance.

Well, write when you gradurate it's tough to find a job anywhere with spelling like that.
Actually there is a program the NZ government has to sponsor American teachers to come and work there. And there is a reason for that.
I have a few NZ girlfriends that have been teachers in NZ. The pay is very poor, the teachers overworked(especially one or two room rural schoolhouses) and discipline lax since you can't punish children in New Zealand. It's a tough gig and with no experience you can count on making less that $20,000 US$ plus you have to factor in a high cost of living and taxes on that income. Many NZ teachers that get teacher qualifications leave the country for the UK or elsewhere.
There is a New Zealand government website detailing the teachers program they have. I've seen it and read though it out of curiosity. I can't be bothered to find it, but if you are interested I'm sure it can be found via a web search.
Other than that without any work experience it will be hard to get a visa to go and work in NZ or Australia.

Sorry , have to point this out that you spelled "graduate" wrong and you say you will have a masters in teaching?? I'm just playing!!! It was funny.....I do it all the time!
Oz is a tough country to get into, my business partner here in Japan is Aussie. Do your research and then do some more. Like many countries that have an educated workforce and a million people knocking at the door to get in. Oz will not allow you to come in and work if you are taking a job away from a local. They do however have a list of professions that they feel they are willing to allow outsiders in to do because their workforce is geared for something else or need additional expertise in.
There are always was to get what you want if you are willing to work and sacrifice for them...
Good Luck getting Down Under

Oz is difficult to get into. I wish the USA had as strict an immigration policy as they do. I have a family member that just got their permanent visa to stay down there, and it was a tough time to get it. Reams of paperwork, lots of hoops to jump through, lots of requirements. Get an immigration attorney so you don't waste time or miss a step.
