They are physically horrible, but they are interesting culturally, my son plays the didjayridoo and he loves it.

I have seen and spoken with Aboriginal people in person and I find their features unique and interesting. The children are especially attractive. I noticed many of them with very dark skin & hair, but with streaks of blonde. I don't think these were dye jobs, based on the sad state of the people.
There are some fantastic black & white photo journals of Aboriginal people. Beautiful photographs.
We're talking about the OLDEST human civilization on Earth, who in the last couple of hundred years have had their entire livelihood and culture taken from them. What a terrible thing to say, pigeonhole.
Kathy Freeman is very attractive, as are many Native Australians. Like I said if pigeonhole had said this about any other race he may have been suspended. What an awful comment.

I'm not proud of my country's history re the Aboriginal people. However I have also been to Indian reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. Anywhere where there has been European colonization there's a pretty poor record of treatment of the indigenous people.
I don't want to get too political but I think the recent apology by the Australian government was long overdue. I know current generations are not responsible for past sins but the Australian government were responsible and it was therefore appropriate for the Australian government to acknowledge what's happened. It's important to note that this was supported by 70% of Australians.
But that's only the beginning. Disparities in health, living standards and life expectancy need to be addressed. At the same time the Aboriginal community need to take some responability as well. One thing I will say is that Government on both sides of the political have thrown a lot of money around in recent years but this alone isn't going to achieve anything.
Coming from an American's perspective; I am going to chime in here:
Yes: by today's standards; what happened in Australia, the Americas, Siberia, hell, anywhere in reference to the 'indigenous peoples' was wrong. That stated: it cannot be changed.
For that matter: the Aztecs in what is now today's Mexico were not angels themselves............cutting the still beating hearts out of living victims from weaker Indian tribes would certainly constitute an atrocity.
The English victimized the Irish, the Japanese were vicious to especially other Asians, just recently the Hutus murdered the Tutsis in Rwanda and so on.
An apology may be in order but that is the extent of it.
The only thing that is owed the subjugated peoples of any society is equal rights----------nothing more.
I have a lot of sympathy for the Aboriginals, as their community and ideals have been ripped through the shredder. Many people despise them because of their perceived poor work ethic, but their culture just does not have the 9-to-5 clock ingrained in it like industrialized societies. It is because of this that they have continued to suffer in an increasingly capitalistic world devoid of concepts such as that the land is not ours to own but that the land owns us. Similar to Black America, much of society's repression of this community has produced backlash and many Aboriginals now forcibly hate against white people, which just causes further wariness from the non-Aboriginals. Endless cycle.
I don't really like most of 'em; They're extremely violent and rude; they go around picking fights against white people in groups of 6-10; They vandalize and destroy public properly; If they complain that they have nowhere to live, then the government builds them free homes, and then the aboriginals destroy those free homes and complain that they get nothing; they get reduced interest rates on cars, homeloans, ect. but they never end up paying them off despite how significantly cheaper their rates are compared ours; If they get tired of paying for something then the government finishes paying it for them, no punishment; Us white Auzzies have to pay for fishing licenses and such, whereas indigenous australians have the right to catch whatever they please without paying anything. Oh, and the aboriginal men abuse and hurt their wives, the government gives them free money, and they just blow it all on alcohol, their kids have dirty clothes and little food. There's probably heaps of other stuff that I didn't include there, but I think this is plenty.
Australia sucks, and I do blame these types of aboriginals for making our country a lot worse than what should be. There's like.. 20% of aboriginals who are decent, clean, hard working and friendly people - who i'm more than happy to share this country with.
How about having an equal country with equal rights.. I really couldn't care who was here first, but we're all here now, so suck it up..

Well, their land was stolen from them, why shouldn't they? Just sayin'.
But they didn't really believe in the whole land ownership thing, did they? I believe they were a hunter-gatherer society and along came another culture that wasn't. So it's a clash of cultures and ideas with them not believing in owning the land, and our entire culture/society based on that, so it'll forever be a problem.
Before whitey, when they lived traditionally, they had a purpose to their lives - to survive, to hunt, to eat, etc. Now, when they insist on living "traditionally" out in the back of beyond in those miserable settlements, where they can get food like everyone else, and booze, what's the point to their lives if there's no work, and no chance of getting work because there's nothing out there, and never will be? It'd be the same no matter what colour you were. If you insisted on living in the middle of nowhere, with no industry or commerce, and nothing to do, your life would go to hell too. The last thing you'd need would be money. You need a purpose to your life, something to give yourself a sense of worth and accomplishment.
Insisting they "own" the land and should be afforded some special status only increases the sense of entitlement in them, where they feel they don't have to work or even go to school. Just demand money from us white invaders. I dont' feel that does them any good. It wouldn't do anybody good.
