My poor son screamed at one of their staff: 'You made my mum eat poo."
I find the whole thing incredibly funny, but yeah, it was pretty damn sick for someone do that.

I've heard of staff taking revenge on complaining customers but this takes it to a disgusting level. Yeah, some customers can be ****holes, and not just in restaurants, but good management should stand up for their staff, or for themselves, without stooping to such levels like this.

The father complaining about the fact that the restaurant's ice-cream cost $19 was a bit much. Surely they checked the prices before going into the restaurant, and with 3 kids, surely they knew that would set them back quite a penny anyway, in any restaurant. Personally I find desserts in restaurants to be a complete rip-off and rarely order them. When my kids were younger we got them used to the fact that dessert in a restaurant would be a rarity.

Oh, and I'm sure this will drop the number of complaints in restaurants from now on!

I agree with this sentiment. Back when i was studying, I worked in retail and it amazed me just how many people would complain about something, rather than voting with their feet and shopping elsewhere, as complaining seems to be easier. For example, I think there was a really awful incident on a Saturday where several checkout staff called in sick and they could get no one to replace them (typical problem when the staff that work on weekends are teenagers). Anyway, not before long a huge line of customers developed which stretched the length of the entire store. Instead of looking at the length of the line and realizing that the service was poor, putting their items down and leaving to go shop somewhere else, so many people endured it only to yell at the acting manager at the time - the poor girl literally had a crowd of people around her while she was trying to serve on the checkout taking turns to scream at her. In the mean time, people still walked into the store to shop...

Spindle, that just infuriates me, that example of yours. To take it out on that poor girl is unforgiveable. My daughter worked part-time at Sizzlers for several months while she was in high-school and the stories she told me!

It was in a cinema complex so most patrons would want to eat there, then go see a movie. So they'd see this long queue to get in, yet insist on waiting, for sometimes 30 minutes or longer. Then either whinge or get stroppy and nasty when they ordered their food. Some would even demand that they get their steaks in 5 minutes because they had a movie to catch - and this, with the obvious reality of a packed restaurant in front of their eyes!

She had a few stories of people being real *****s but the manager was a strong, commanding type who always defused the situation, or just told the customer(s) to leave when it was obvious they were completely out of line. And there were quite a few of those.
