Default American physician looking to emigrate...help!

Hi all,

I'm an American-trained physician looking to work for 1-2 years in Australia. I've enjoyed reading this board. I'm looking for advice on the best way to find a job. I've found a couple of recruiter websites which recruit foreign physicians to Australia. Are these legit? Below are the links:

Locum Recruiter | Global Medical Staffing | US, Australia, New Zealand
Medical Jobs Australia and New Zealand for Doctors - International Medical Recruitment

Is it worth going through one of these agencies? IMR in particular seems like a good website; they handle all licensing paperwork and fees, and claim to match you to your location of choice.

FYI, I'm a dual Australian and American citizen, if that makes a difference.

I have an aunty and uncle that are both dual citizens, and both were school teachers. They can live, work and reside in either countries.
The fact that you are a professional, and have dual citizenship make it virtually guarenteed.

If you want to work in General Practice, contact one of the Divisions of General Practice in the area that you want to work. A lot of them help with such matters and I think they don't charge, but don't quote me.

I've direct messaged you ... I know all the scoop on this having been through this ... basically, there are a few forms and hoops to jump through. Don't use the recruiter - you'll have more flexibility and better income just doing it yourself. You still have to fill out all the forms whether you use a recruiter or not ... difference is they get a piece of your salary.

Your immigration situation is easy as was mine, it is your medical licensing and specialty recognition that is the issue ... I'll point you where to go and you'll be in good shape.

Regards,

BigDaddyG
