I am graduating from college in May, and finishing up a few classes during the summertime. I've been interested in moving to Brisbane for quite a while now.... and have gotten a little confused with my visa eligibility and exactly what route I should go with in attempting to live and work permanently in Australia.

My degree with be a bachelor's in Psychology, with a minor in Business Marketing. I have a bit of experience in out-patient mental health, however that was during my freshman year. So I'm basically entering this with no work experience, just a degree. I am 22, so that gets me some points on my assessment.

What are my chances of getting a visa? i've been looking into a subclass 175 skilled work visa. Is this possible.... or will I be forced to stay in the states for a year or two and get work experience?

You really are better off going to an immigrant forum on Australia than here. Most American's won't be able to give foreigners advise on migrating to the US, would be similar here. Also 94% of the people on this forum are American! So best for you to find people who have migrated to Australia to pose your question or contact a migration agent.

Mostly your chances are pretty weak without having work experience. Also you'll need to have your profession listed on the skilled list and be able to back that up with documentation.

At your age you are eligible for a one year working holiday visa to Australia via a sponsor like IEP or BUNAC. If you are really keen on Australia, I'd take advantage of that first, see if you like Australia, make some contacts for the future and then at some point try to immigrate over.

If you use the job shortage list to apply, you must have at least 2 years of job experience in that particular field, and it must be recent. Since you have no experience, that would not be the way to go.
