If he has a car to drive, and makes the qualifying time...he can get on the track. Sure there's a handfull of non-sponsored guys that are paying out of pocket, that have no backup cars or cash for unlimited engines...that make qualifying, make a few laps, and pull themselves out of the race. Their cars go undamaged, and they make some bank. We all gotta make a living somehow.

what do you have against bill elliot? is a past champion, and like mark martin has decided that he isnt done racing yet. and what race car driver has NOT wrecked a race car?

and dont forget that marty robbins ran a cup car for many years even though he was never competitive, but he was able to qualify for the races.
