After many years of being the "unofficial" road course driving instructor for many of today's drivers he finally gets his reward.

If anybody ever gets to the Seneca Lodge bar ( the absolute best after the races bar on the East coast), Jack the owner/ bartender has lots of stories about the drivers Boris got indoctrinated into Watkins Glen night life.

I too was happy to see him win. And what a finish it was.

perhaps this will propel boris into a full time ride in nascar racing? the only unfortunate part was that both ambrose and edwards dropped out because of mechanical issues.

Good for him! That was an interesting race. Wonder if they could ever hold a Cup event?

Yes, horray Boris! Always drives his heart out and is a good clean racer. My feelings are a real race car driver stands out on a road course. Great race yesterdy. Fun and exciting! If more races could be like that it would probably gain some more interest. I think the cups cars will eventually race there. Did you see the stands? They were full like ours use to be!

I was real happy for Boris as well. Met him at my workplace a few years ago. He had time to spend with anyone who wanted to chat. I wish he could land a solid Cup ride as well, but unfortunately, he no longer has age or TV looks on his side.

Nice to hear - seems like the kind of guy you want to cheer for

as for the Seneca Lodge I'm assuming that it's off Seneca Lake due to the Watkins Glen reference ...... I grew up in the area, but never heard of that place .... may need to check it out next time I get back there

The Seneca Lodge is located on the old race course right next to the Watkins Glen State park entrance.
Before the advent or motor homes many of the racers used to stay at the Lodge. It has decent food but a great bar with lots of racing memorabilia. I have stayed at the Lodge many times over the years while attending WGI events.

BTW the Lodge is a great place to stay but high maintenance women might be turned off a little by it's rustic non amenities.( no phones in rooms even before cell phones)
