Kyle has the status and the name recognition to be able to take his street car to almost any road course track in VA, NC and turn a few hot laps just for fun.
NASCAR drivers were testing just this week at VIR and I am sure Kyle would be able to squeeze in a couple of laps if he chose to.The fact that he chose to open it up just a little on a public road shows his immaturity.
Nobody questions his driving skills but his lack of common sense really shows through.
He is just lucky he was not imbibing at the time because his NASCAR license would have been pulled as well as getting a fine from the Police.
He is REALLY lucky he did not hit somebody.

If he does lose his license, I would be happy to drive him around for a measly 40K a year! Give me a call Shrub if this happens.

That's what irks me the most about this; especially since Shrub lives near there. I drive this road several days a week and it is very narrow in the sense that there are no shoulders, some curves and hills, and there is not much visibility for any hazards that can come at you unexpectedly (critters, kids, disabled or slow cars, those people that like to stop and then turn with no signal, etc). In fact, at about the same time as that happened my kid and plenty of other inexperienced drivers (and soccer moms) are in the area getting to or from the nearby schools, etc.

128 mph = 187.7 feet per second!!!

Think about it... That's 60+ yards with each tick of the clock.

I don't care that he is a professional race car driver, he would not have the necessary reaction times to handle things that he could encounter at that speed on a road like Perth Road.

If he did 128 mph on the interstate or even a 4 lane, rural road, I'd probably say it was a bad choice, but 'good for him to get to do it' . But on this particular road, it was uncalled for and very, very much over the line.

I hope justice is done in the court system and that Shrub realizes that he still has ALOT of growing up to do.

A comment from an article about the incident...

"If Gibbs suspends him for speeding, Hendrick should suspend Junior for impersonating a race car driver." LOL

And another...

"I think Kyle's speeding incident sets a bad example for kids. However, it is nothing compared to most other major sports with drugs, alcohol, wife beatings, rape and even murder.

I suspect most of us have driven more than 100 MPH on public roads. The only reason I haven't driven 128 MPH is I never had a car fast enough to do it."

Last one...

"Yet no one, and I mean NO ONE has mentioned the other aspect even though this story is all over creation: The value added to Lexus. You cannot buy this kind of advertising. Ticket on Tuesday, sell on Wednesday, and Thursday and…"

I agree stripes! Guess Kyle still has a lot more growing up to do. "I'm sorry" isn't going cut it either. He had his wife with him too. Maybe a bit of showing off? Yeah, do it at the track and please keep working on maturing Kyle!

Gimme--my DH said the exact same thing about the air time for Lexus! He said next month they will have a car out with Kyles name on it and the same color!
I also did mention I personally have done my share of fast driving on mountains roads years, years ago--checking out Porsches, Corvettes etc--fun at the time--looking back now stupid and immature. Many have done worse things as you mentioned in your post--still it's not right so I do hope Kyle really listens and grows from this for his sake and those around him!

At the begininning of this year, I thought that Kyle had "turned the corner" so to speak in his maturity level. It looked like 2011 he had a great chance of hoisting the trophy at Homestead.

But in the past month, Kyle has been very reckless. Let's not forgot what happen on pit road. I know "almost" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, but he "could" have injured on killed someone on pit road. Now he could have done the same to himself or someone else in the Lexus.

I like that Kyle is a bad boy on the track (as long he is not killing people). He needs to learn how to control his behavior, which he should have learned by now. I mean this guy has one of the best mentors in all of sports, Joe Gibbs! Joe has tamed guys that would eat Kyle for lunch when he coached the Redskins.

I really would like to see Kyle buckle down and put the pressure on Carl for the Championship. It's still a ways a way, but Kyle is heading down the wrong path once again.
