A sad morning for me.

Motorcycle racing isn't as popular in the United States as it is in many other countries, so most Americans don't follow it. In my younger years I raced motorcycles (only as an amateur), so I follow it closely.

MotoGP is the motorcycle equivalent of Formula 1.

Mostly because of track improvements, the racing has gotten safer – usually when riders crash they slide off the track and, at the worst, sometimes suffer broken bones. But this time Marco was hit by two other motorcycles and, for some reason, his helmet came off. Unlike car racers, motorcycle racers have no protection other than their leathers and helmets.

R.I.P.

Rest in peace Marco. What a horrible ending to such a young life and a promising rider.

A minute of silence for Marco? Doesn't a minute of noise make more sense for a motorcycle racer? Marco's father thinks so:
