Even Bruton Smith knows how bad the track is. Read between the lines on his "saving face' comments and you'll see the bottom line is that the track stinks:

Sounds like Smith is about waste a bunch of money listening to morons.
Martin said it best, "they (the fans) just want to see us wreck." Though he was speaking about restrictor plate tracks I think the same can be applied here.
102,000 attendance is still nothing to sneeze at.

Yeah, I read that too but I just don't know if it's just the track. People just don't have the extra money to get up and go anywhere paying the gas prices, the ticket prices, food prices and then lodging. It's one thing to go to a local track but even then people have just lost a lot of interest it seems--like I said--lots of changes to the point of making, as I said before "sterile".. Hopefully the next race will get things moving again!

If you think there were 102K at that race, I've got a bridge to sell you!

Fact is, many fans want to see doughnuts on the doors and some rubbin' out there on the track.

At least Bruton is smart enough to realize it.

I like the side by side racing at the "new" Bristol, but like some drivers had said, the tire compound was the issue this past race. I can believe that for the most part.

I prefer the old Bristol, i attended the august night race many years and it was fun. Now, the racing seems to be average just like Dover

I still think Bristol is exciting. Still better than F1 where you send a message to the driver in front of you. "excuse me but my machine seems to be slightly faster than yours, would you mind terribly if I passed you?"
When Bristol and NASCAR becomes that then it's time to tune in the Chess channel.

The sport has become boring, I can barely watch a race on TV.

Ditto that. I went from doing over ten races every year to maybe four this year. I've been going to Bristol for years and I gave my tix away this year...
