The biggest difference between NASCAR then and now is parity. You take today's parity and apply it to the pre-1982 downsized chassis the racing would be infinitely better than it is now. The cars are too damn heavy to be so frickin aero dependent. Either drop the cars down to about 2250lbs or drop the front air dam and side skirts.
NASCAR did take today's parity and apply it to the pre-1982 downsized chassis, that's how it got to this point.
Hamlin drops appeal.
Too bad I was hoping he would fight it out with NASCAR but then again he is not a Hendrick driver so no chance of winning any appeals.
I don't follow NASCAR, in fact I had to look up who Denny Hamlin was...
I used to follow NHRA but got away from that when "parity" and "cost savings" lumped together with political correctness entered the picture.
I read up on the Hamlin incident and what burns me is when a driver gets fired up for a cause then backs away with his/her tail between their legs. Now he says it was the tires.
I read the original quotes...tires never entered the discussion. Wonder how Good Year feels about that?
