Vettel is looking rather ordinary this year...

The turbo whistle in the in-car views is driving me nuts this year.

That was a brilliant race! Lots of different strategies involved, great driving from Ricciardo, Alonso and Hamilton. Rain is awesome.

Yup. He was the master of the blown diffuser and cars with truckloads of rear downforce. He just can't find himself with the new car. Ricciardo, on the other hand, wow! He's probably the best driver of the first half of the year. Only winner in a non-Mercedes car.

What an exciting finish!

Ricciardo winning in a non Mercedes, well ahead of his teammate 4 time world champ Vettel.
Alonzo with his super human ability to hold off the field with worn out tires.
Hamilton coming from starting in pit lane to getting a podium spot.
Rosberg chasing down Hamilton in the last few laps of the race.
Vettel spinning, brushes the wall and continuing a few spots down.

When Hamilton passed JEV in T5 that seemed so daring. Such a hard track to pass, unknown weather conditions, different strategies. I thought it was an exciting race with a nail biting ending.

... and we're off into the long, long summer break. I get the idea, but I find it frustrating. I think most of the teams and drivers feel the same way.

Next race: Grand Prix of Belgium on August 24 at Circuit de Francorchamps-Spa!

And, we're back! This weekend, the Belgium Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps!

Place your bets, ladies and gents, did anyone figure out a way to creep within a few more seconds of the Mercedes team, or are we looking at another half of the season where the rest of the field has to hope for Lewis and Nico taking each other out or a mechanical DNF?

Max Verstappen (16 years old right now, will be 17 at debut time) will replace Jean Eric Vergne at Toro Rosso in 2015.

Massive talent. Dominated in karting, broke track record in his first Formula Renault 2.0 test, then won the championship in his rookie season. Moved up to F3 Euroseries this year, and is 2nd with 6 straight wins in his rookie season. He signed for the Red Bull programme last week, and yesterday he was announced as a 2015 F1 driver.

Wow!

I really hope Red Bull knows what it's doing... this is a crazy fast career progression. Like going from intern to CEO in two years.

The lack of in-season testing as well as frozen engine designs are definitely working in MB's favor. The good news is Nico and Lewis battling can be entertaining and there's been some good battles in the rest of the field. It wouldn't surprise me to see Bottas and/or Ricciardo squeak out a win on a track that favors them with possibly a little help from gremlins striking MB. It won't show in the record books but I think this may be one of Alonso's finer seasons, regardless of how the car may be the man just puts his head down and works it, gotta give him credit for that.

Knowing how unpredictable Spa's weather can be it may be an interesting weekend.
