So there's a standing start for this one? Bleah. I do like standing starts in F1 and touring cars, but for Indy, that's just kind of silly. That said, I will be watching. I love Indy, and did love it when F1 used the road course a number of years back, tire debacle and all (a result is a result, even amidst a boycott).

Speaking of which, didn't the road course part get modified a while ago?

And a massive crash immediately off the standing start after the polesitter ( I think) stalls. Yellow on lap 1.

Standing starts are completely asinine, and that crash is why. They just increase the likelihood that someone gets killed.

Simon Pagenaud wins, almost (supposedly) running out of gas.

I'd say Bush at 5th when he left and still 10th at end was astonishing for first ride at Indy. But then 230 average over 4 laps to get into top 9 is also. That is scary fast at Indy. I'd probably pass out at 235 at end of straight going into turn.

Agreed about the speeds. Odd, since in the time Right after DW's death, they made a big deal about the new era of IndyCar being so much safer. Gotta wonder what's ahead.

Back-to-back pole starts for Carpenter in '500'

Great to see Ed back on the pole! Hopefully he can pull off the win this year.
