NASCAR needs a true competitor because the product is hot garbage right now.
The current Aero package give the leader a distinct advantage over the drivers following.
Keselosky with two tires was able to hold off a faster Bush who had four and then again when he had four just because he had the lead. Hamlin held off a faster Harvick for the win because of Aero.
There is absolutely no need for a splitter on these cars, they were running faster speeds before splitters and it was the drivers with the best car control who dominated.

Constant tweaking of the cars and rules has not produced better racing. The advantage goes to the teams who out spend the other teams with expensive engineering and more costly cars.

If I wanted to root for engineering I would follow F1.

And the driver intros................ at first I thought I had the wrong channel and a WWE event was on.

I'm with you bluescreen. The whole thing was a bore.

Yeah that intro is fairly old at this point isn't it? I'll be honest I recorded the race and FFWed to the actual racing.

It is bad to see aero loose back. All the leader has to do is take the air off the nose of the guy behind and it's game over.

Right! And it still sucks and gets worse.

I was hoping they would come to their senses and go back to a sensible format but I guess I am wishing for too much.

More catering to the short attention span crowd.

I have found the all star race to be a bore for years.

Like the pro bowl, or any other stick and ball all star contest... a mid season "exhibition" for no other reason than to have it is not all that compelling of an event for me to tune into.

In that regard, NASCAR may be worse. In other sports, you take the top people from other teams and cities and get them together. In NASCAR, it is the same drivers you watch every week run one more race. Might as well make it a 43 car field, and award points for it. At least then it would have a purpose.

Not at all like F1 or even Indy car for that matter. Look at the winners. Your never going to get equal in top series racing but certainly restrictions haven't work for F! or Indy car no matter id its money or technology or testing. I'd say the talent level of NASCAR young drivers shows it a series that attracts young talent and has three series of racing with growing interest in them. I have gotten to love truck series.in the end NASCAR is a business and if its not successful there it starts to fade as Indy car is. No other form of racing as near the series in total like NASCAR. Some like the old days but it wasn't a top form of racing either fan wise.
