I think both Busch brothers have a lot of talent but they don't win championships. Kurt won one but then went off the rails. Kyle's never been close. Gordon did have some struggles with the CoT but so did most drivers. He still won races and competed for the Championship. JJ is definitely put himself in the running. Guy is good.

how about chase elliot? he is quite talented, and won the xfinity championship last year. kyle larson though is someone to watch, i like him also.

Great list in Post #5 -- but you must have forgotten Herb Thomas, the Flock boys, and Benny Parsons

Another Jeff Gordon nod. He almost always would get a better finish then what he should, if you know what I mean. Thats why he would have 7 championships if they didnt go to this lotto they use now. But I do think Johnson by the time its over may be GOAT.Hope not but maybe.

Elliott and Larson both appear talented with bright futures. Definately worthy to watch.

Right now, I think the most exciting young driver is... (looks around ready to duck)... Joey Logano. Old "sliced bread" has been looking like material (which really goes back to last year).

i have been keeping an eye on joey, he definitely has the talent, but does he have the drive to win a championship? i think he will be like carl edwards, again has the talent, but doesnt seem to have the ultimate drive to win a championship at this point.

That is a good point. He still gives off the impression he is just "happy to be there and doing well" at this stage. Could just be his personality however. I am unsure how much work he is putting in behind the scenes.

Yeah I think Logano is too goofy and immature to be a great driver. He doesn't have the laser focus. He'll win a lot of races but doomed to be another guy - like most drivers. Which is fine, great is a very small group. Like the list on the first page. Lots of good drivers but few great ones.
