Brian France has called for a complete ban on the Confederate Flag at all NASCAR events. I do not fly the Confederate flag, but have no problem with those that do. However, Brian France has decided he wants to side with the far left and ban the flag, and is willing to insult those who pay the freight for his NASCAR paid private jets, etc.

IMO, under his guidance, the racing has gone from Stock Car to IROC, and has declined in quality from exciting to boring. Now he wants to push away his base just to appease those he wants to like him, which is not the fans.

I don't believe he is siding with the "far left" more like he is siding with the vast majority of all Americans.

You're not saying all Southerners are racists are you? Or is it just NASCAR fans?

While I don't disagree with NASCAR's take on the flag issue, they have much bigger fish to fry. Ratings and attendance continue to decline, and tracks are removing thousands of seats. Hell Daytona is bragging about selling out next year even though they had to cut capacity by 40% to get there.

NASCAR is in serious trouble and they'd better be grateful IndyCar doesn't have much of an audience because that series is exponentially more entertaining than the Sprint Cup Series right now.

Nikki Haley and Lindsey Graham are the "far left"

Who knew?

I guess talk of NASCAR has devolved from racing to (dubiously labeled) politics, eh?

Hmm; wander if they are going to ban other flags or symbols. Sounds like a political decision to avoid conflict some seem to want to stir to me. My ancestors by the way fought on Union side being from Penn. Perhaps I see the British flag as more a symbol of suppression than any personally but that was ages ago and I have moved on unlike say some in Ireland; Scotland; Wales.

NASCAR and it's racing lately has been less than entertaining. Now I have politcal correctness and a dress code to adhere to to see a race? Bye bye, NASCAR, hope you go broke.

I have a new place for watching truly exciting racing. Check out Hard Enduro.

I get the PR stance that France and NASCAR are taking at this time. But I don't think there is any way he can remove the flag from all NASCAR events.. besides the flags flying in the infield and camp grounds.. there are shirts, hats belt buckles, etc.. how can he possible expect to police all of that.. seriously.

I get that some NASCAR fans will take offense to the stance NASCAR is taking against the flag but i think the majority of NASCAR fans don't care either way. Like many have already pointed out, NASCAR has bigger problems than a few confederate flags flying on race day and ignoring the media hype over the flag would probably create more issues than taking a stance against it would create, especially since the issue will likely fade away in a few weeks. I expect to be seeing the flag flying at race events for the foreseeable future and I expect NASCAR to stop talking about it as well, at least until the next time the media decides to make it an issue.

If they had a brain in their PR department, they would have stated that the only flag they're concerned with is the checkered flag, and that whatever their fans want to display is the fan's choice.

Like the Kurt Busch deal (where they stepped out too far IMO), they are just trying to get in front of it and say the right things until it blows over. Unless there is an outright legal ban on it, I don't know there is much they can do. I suppose the tracks would have to put it in their specific policies and even go sar far as prohibiting display of the flag itself.

Personally, I see stuff on shirts and window decals that is more crude and offensive than the flag. I can have a dialogue with my kid over what the flag represents and why someone may choose to display it. but trying to explain the values of displaying Calvin pissing on a manufacturer logo is something more difficult.

Good for NASCAR. It's a bad look. It limits NASCAR. Daugherty as an owner is offended every single week but has to keep quiet or face the wrath. Good that's ending.
