No spoilers, but the new qualifying set up is beyond awful. Several cars were eliminated in Q1 while on hot laps and there were long stretches (including the last 3 minutes of Q3) where there were zero cars on track. F1 took an exciting, straightforward qualifying setup and changed it into a boring gimmick. Not the way to go.

ETA: reading through the F1 press, not one team is in favor of the new qualifying rules and there is a meeting set to demand a return to the old rules by the next race at Bahrain (April 3). Probably just as influential as the teams, the event promoters and the TV rights holders are complaining, too.

I hear the crow is quite tasty today!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

BRAVO! to the new kids on the block!

F1's elimination-style qualifying dropped with immediate effect

I think it is going to be a rather boring season. 2017 cannot come fast enough.

Ehhh, I like having teams to root for in the pack. Mercedes and Ferrari - yeah, yeah, ho hum. Red Bull vs Toro Rosso is looking good, then there are Haas and McLaren, for whom every race finish, points or otherwise, is a victory.

Nah, I stand by it and still think he's nuts to honestly believe that. Took an incident filled mess either way.

Glad they are getting rid of the qualifying deal. It sounded weird when announced and played out that way.

Nobody ever got to the top step of the box by aiming low.

He may be new to F! but not to racing and he's got some very well experienced people working for him.

Fair enough, I'm glad they did well (really haha) and it's actually good for F1 to have that team on the grid. I've never had an issue with that team.

F1's Kimi Raikkonen to NASCAR in 2017?: If rumors hold any weight, the sun is setting on Kimi Raikkonen's Formula One career, and he may look to land in NASCAR. He started racing again with the Ferrari team in 2014 (after racing with them from 2007 to 2009) and has just three podium finishes in 39 races. For the last year, many have speculated that Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo has his eye on Raikkonen's seat for 2017. In the past, he raced in the World Rally Championship and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Xfinity Series. It's his NASCAR experience -- one race in each the trucks series and Xfinity series in 2011 -- that is fueling the latest rumors. According to Tanja Bauer of Sky Sport News, Raikkonen could end up in a seat with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2017. It's all conjecture at this point. Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner and three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup winner Tony Stewart is retiring at the end of the season and giving up his seat to Clint Bowyer. The team also employs drivers Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick and Kurt Busch. Right now there doesn't seem to be room for Raikkonen [as the team is at the max of four cars/drivers]. So if he were to join SHR, it would mean a current driver would leave. The best scenarios for that would be either Harvick or Patrick taking a hike [but Harvick says he is staying and Patrcik is signed thru 2018].(full post at AutoWeek)(3-24-2016)

IMO he waited too long. He might well have been a NASCAR star if he came on board in his early 20's but as Montoya found out NASCAR is no walk in the park.

... and, no, the new qualifying scheme has NOT been dropped for Bahrain. Ehhh, there is still a week to go, maybe the promoters will kick up a fuss.
